Collaboration with the Coaches

When Chalmers Innovation has decided to accept a project into it's processes, we will appoint a coach from our own staff. This will be done to support the business developement through the whole project period at Chalmers Innovation.

All coaches at Chalmers Innovation have several years of on-site experience in business developement of ideas during start-up phases.  The purpose of the coaching is to implement these experiences in close cooperation through weekly meetings and interaction.

Coach meetings

The coach will begin your relations by askin questions about general expectations that You, as an innvator, may have on Chalmers Innovation and the coach specifically. It is important that the personal relations are functioning properly and are based on trust which will generate a successful  partnership.
Every coach is responsible for five companies here at Chalmers Innovation simuntaneously. We want to be able to put as much energy and time on the developement of Your projecct as possible. That is why this limitation of engagement is so important to us.

Expectations

The coach will communicate his/hers expectations on You and together you will develop the shared work procedures. The coach meetings will be held on a weekly basis, during the pre-incubation period, in which the coach will act as a motivator and demand-maker, with focus on helping the project to deliver as much as possible in the shortest amount of time. Sometimes the relationship evolves so good that the coach becomes  a personal mentor for the managerial body or the inventor.

All coaches have experience with starting technologically based ventures, and are willing to share this competence to everyone, creating really good conditions for the future. The coach is not supposed to be in charge for the operational drive. The project manager is expected to be self sufficient, initiate intiatives and be unrestrained in asking questions to the coach.

Before the meeting with the coach, please consider:

  • what you have for expectations on Chalmers Innovation
  • what you have for expectations on your personal coach
  • what your ambitions are with the project
  • what work procedures that would fit you
  • how you want to, as a person, evolve in the coming six months
  • what triggered you to start the process of building a venture

Weekly meetings

To keep up the tempo you will together with your coach schedule weekly meetings. The project manager must always attend these meetings. In those cases that the company has both a project manager and an innovator, the later will attend the initial weekly meetings together with the coach.

During the weekly meetings the project manager is expected to

  • prepare questions or subjects to discuss with the coach
  • participate actively
  • compile a weekly report with objectives, how far the development has gone, possible problem areas and a plan of operations for the coming week
  • carry out operations agreed on

Coach-to-coach-meetings

Once a week the coaches get together for a mutual discussion around current questions at issue for all pre-incubation projects. This way the comapnies get maximal perusal and input from different approches and visual angles which can later be managed during the weekly meetings.

Before the friday meetings your coach will give a report on the latest events in the companies development. If you have a specific question you want answered by the coach-group , send it to your coach prior to tuesdays 12 AM and it will be put under discussion on the friday meeting.
